approximately 20 miles southeast of Columbus, the refuge is one of the largest
remnants of coastal prairie habitat remaining in southeast Texas and is home to
one of the last populations of the critically endangered Attwater's prairie-
chicken, a ground-dwelling grouse of the coastal prairie ecosystem.

Cowboy Action Shooting- Texas Historical Shootists Society

THSS works to preserve the history of the old west through the sport of Western
Action Shooting, a multi-faceted shooting sport in which contestants compete
with firearms typical of those used in the taming of the Old West: single action
revolvers, pistol caliber lever action rifles, and old time shotguns.
