Arts and Entertainment

The natural beauty of Colorado County has captured the eye and imagination of poets, artists and explorers for centuries; therefore it was no surprise to us when Texas Monthly Magazine identified Columbus as one of the Best Small Towns for Art. Once you discover the arts in Columbus, we're sure you’ll agree.

Highlights include:

  • 1886 Stafford Opera House featuring monthly dinner theater performed by professional troupes from Austin and Deer Park, Texas.

  • Turner-Chapman Gallery, the studio of world-renowned artist Kenneth Turner. Co-owner/ philanthropist Mark Chapman and a host of regional artists' work is also available for purchase.

  • Nesbitt Memorial Library, hosts authors lectures and book-signings, and musical performances by world class musicians in an intimate setting.  The Library also conducts the annual Live Oaks and Dead Folks Cemetery Tour!

  • Colorado County Courthouse, site of a beautiful Tiffany-style stained glass dome designed in the early 1900's at the height of the art-deco era
